Save The People USA (STPUSA), in partnership with Jamaica Muslim Center (JMC), hosted the NYS Grant Workshop 2026 in Jamaica, Queens, bringing together faith leaders, school officials, mosque representatives, and nonprofit organizers for a focused session on community safety and state funding.
The workshop was held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the JMC Auditorium, located at 85-37 JMC Way, Jamaica, NY 11432. The event centered on New York State’s Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes (SCAHC) Grant Program, which supports institutions seeking to strengthen security and protect vulnerable communities.
Organizers said the workshop was designed for religious institutions, masjids, schools, and community-based nonprofit leadership. Participants received guidance on grant eligibility, required documentation, application procedures, and ways to prepare stronger proposals for security-related funding.
The session came at a time when many faith-based and community institutions remain concerned about hate crimes, bias incidents, and threats to public safety. Speakers emphasized that proactive planning is essential to protecting worshippers, students, staff, visitors, and community members.
The SCAHC Grant Program can help institutions pursue security improvements and safety-related measures. The workshop also discussed broader concerns affecting community spaces, including hate crimes, gender-based violence, harassment, and other safety challenges.
Beyond technical grant guidance, the event created a space for networking and collaboration. Attendees were able to ask questions, share concerns, and learn from one another about how to build safer and more welcoming institutions.
By organizing the workshop, STPUSA and JMC highlighted a shared commitment to strengthening safety, building unity, and protecting all communities. Organizers expressed hope that more institutions will use available state resources to improve preparedness and resilience.
