Dua Mahfil Honors Memory of Nishat Jannath in Jackson Heights

Alex Mason :

In a solemn gathering marked by grief, faith, and unity, members of the Queens Muslim community came together on Friday, April 10, 2026, to attend a Dua Mahfil in memory of Nishat Jannath, the young daughter of Imam Helal Ahmed, whose recent passing has deeply affected the community.

The prayer service was held at the An-Noor Muslim Community Center, located at 37-28 75th Street in Jackson Heights, beginning at 7:30 PM after Maghrib prayers. Organized under the banner of IMAM NYC, the event provided a space for collective mourning, reflection, and spiritual support for the bereaved family.

The gathering drew a wide range of religious leaders and community members, underscoring the deep connections within New York’s Muslim community. Among those present were Imam Mufty Ismail, Imam Safraz Bacchus, Imam Helaluddin, Imam Hamidur Rahman Ashraf, Imam Sadikur Rahman, Imam Mahmudur Rahman, Imam Nazrul Islam, Imam Abul Khair, Imam Mujibur Rahman, and Imam Alamgir, all of whom joined in leading prayers and offering condolences.

Imam Muhammad Shahidullah, attended on behalf of IMAM NYC, reflecting the organization’s commitment to standing beside families during times of loss and hardship. His presence, along with that of other faith leaders, highlighted a shared message of compassion, unity, and spiritual resilience.

Throughout the evening, prayers were offered seeking forgiveness, mercy, and eternal peace for Nishat Jannath, while attendees also prayed for strength and patience for her family. The atmosphere was one of quiet reflection, with community members expressing solidarity through their presence and collective دعا (supplication).

Events like this Dua Mahfil serve not only as religious observances but also as vital expressions of communal care. In moments of tragedy, such gatherings reinforce the importance of coming together—offering comfort, sharing grief, and strengthening bonds within the community.

As the evening concluded, the message remained clear: while loss leaves a lasting void, faith and unity provide a path toward healing. The remembrance of Nishat Jannath will continue to live on through prayers, compassion, and the collective support of a community that stands together in times of sorrow.
