Around the World in NYC: Youth Unite Across Faiths and Cultures

Emily Parker :

In a city defined by its diversity, young New Yorkers gathered on February 16, 2026, for an immersive cultural experience designed to strengthen unity and understanding. The event, titled “Around the World in NYC,” brought together youth, faith leaders, and community partners for a day of dialogue, reflection, and collaboration.

A highlight of the program was the group’s visit to Save The People, where participants took part in an interactive session focused on civic engagement, compassion, and community service. The visit provided students with a hands-on opportunity to learn about grassroots initiatives aimed at uplifting underserved communities while reinforcing shared values across cultures and faiths.

Organized in partnership with P.A.T.H. FORWARD, the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes, Muslim Community Network (MCN), Save The People, and Flatbush Leadership Academy, the program emphasized unity at a time when headlines often reflect division. Leaders including Christine Noel, Program Director of P.A.T.H.; representatives from the 67th Precinct Clergy Council (“The GodSquad”); Anmol Aulakh of the Sikh Coalition; Pastor Phillip Falayi of Hosanna Quality Life & Development; Dr. T.K. Nakagaki; and Corey Chivers of Light The World were among those supporting the initiative.

In one room, youth witnessed Muslims, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, and civic leaders working side by side, modeling collaboration and mutual respect. Through meaningful conversations and cross-cultural engagement, participants built friendships and deepened their commitment to standing against hate and bias.

Organizers described the event as a reflection of Queens’ spirit and New York City’s strength — a reminder that diversity is not merely something to celebrate, but something to actively protect. As the day concluded, the message was clear: when young people choose understanding over fear and collaboration over conflict, they help build a stronger, more unified future for all.
