Noakhali Community in Brooklyn Celebrates New Chapter

In a vibrant and spirited gathering, the Greater Noakhali Society USA formally inaugurated its newly elected executive committee for the 2026–2029 term at a ceremony held at Jalsa Party Hall, 786 Coney Island Avenue, Brooklyn. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of over 600 members of the Bangladeshi-American Noakhali community, highlighting the deep-rooted commitment to community leadership and engagement in the diaspora.

The inauguration and oath-taking ceremony marked a significant transition of leadership within one of New York’s most active regional Bangladeshi organizations. Zahid Mintu was sworn in as the new President, while A.M.M. Mainuddin Pintu took the oath as General Secretary. The ceremony was conducted in a formal yet festive environment, filled with optimism and unity.

The oath was administered by the organization’s election commissioner, following speeches from notable figures in the community. Nazmul Hasan, outgoing president, and Md. Yusuf Jasim, outgoing general secretary, delivered reflections on the society’s past achievements and expressed confidence in the incoming leadership.

Also addressing the event were Haji Mofizur Rahman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and former president Abdur Rob Mia, who praised the organization’s continued dedication to serving the Noakhali diaspora and called for unity, transparency, and innovation in the years ahead.

Speakers emphasized the importance of maintaining the cultural heritage of Noakhali while working collectively to support Bangladeshi immigrants in the United States. The new leadership pledged to work collaboratively to enhance the organization’s outreach, social programs, and educational initiatives.

The event showcased the enduring spirit of community among Bangladeshi-Americans, particularly those hailing from the Noakhali region. The successful ceremony concluded with renewed commitments to advancing the welfare of the community and strengthening the society’s role as a platform for service, support, and cultural preservation.

With the new committee officially in place, the Greater Noakhali Society USA now looks ahead to a future of strengthened unity, effective leadership, and community-driven progress.
