Preparing Tomorrow’s Leaders Today

James Anderson:

In a meaningful collaboration aimed at preparing students for the road to higher education, Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) partnered with Darul Uloom New York to host an engaging Student–Parent Information Session on Higher Education on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at the Darul Uloom campus in Jamaica, NY. The event brought together prospective students, parents, educators, and community leaders for an afternoon centered on academic planning and post-secondary opportunities.

The day began with a welcoming registration followed by a networking luncheon, allowing guests to meet WUST professors, school staff, and local leaders in a relaxed, friendly environment. This opening laid the foundation for deeper engagement during the formal program.

The event commenced with opening remarks from the hosts, followed by greetings and motivational words from Darul Uloom leadership, who emphasized the importance of faith-based academic ambition and early college planning. Attendees were then introduced to key WUST faculty members, who shared valuable insights into the university’s mission and student-focused approach.

Dr. Sergei Andronikov delivered a powerful keynote speech on aligning higher education choices with emerging workforce trends. His message resonated strongly: “Students must be proactive in choosing paths that match future global needs.” Following him, Dr. Touhid Bhuiyan provided an overview of WUST’s modern and relevant academic programs, while Prof. Mahmood Menon Khan spoke passionately about the WUST student experience, highlighting support systems that span from admission to graduation and beyond.

The highlight of the session was a lively interactive Q&A, where students and parents posed thoughtful questions about admissions, financial aid, campus life, and academic planning. The openness and depth of discussion reflected the strong interest in WUST’s offerings and the community’s desire for clear guidance.

Md. Abdullah Sikandar, a faculty member of Darul Uloom, played an instrumental role in coordinating student engagement throughout the event, ensuring a smooth flow and high participation. As the event came to a close, students received souvenirs and posed for a group photo, capturing a day filled with learning and inspiration.

Muhammad Shaidullah, CEO of Save the People USA (STPUSA) concluded the session with final remarks, thanking the participants, speakers, and organizers for their time and efforts. Informal networking continued afterward, extending the conversation and building new connections.

The event served not just as an information session, but as a significant step toward building bridges between faith-based education and academic opportunity. With growing awareness of the need for inclusive and accessible college guidance, initiatives like this are empowering a new generation to dream bigger and aim higher.
