Hands-On Learning at Elhaam Academy Strengthens Spiritual Values

Jessica Morgan:

In a warm and welcoming atmosphere, students at Elhaam Academy recently participated in the school’s second Story Time and Craft event, a program designed to engage young learners with Islamic teachings through interactive and creative experiences. This session, held in the school’s learning space, centered around the importance of Salah, the daily prayer that forms a core pillar of the Islamic faith.

The event began with a story that introduced students to the concept of Salah in a relatable and age-appropriate way. With attentive eyes and eager hearts, children listened closely as the story unfolded—highlighting not just the ritual aspect of prayer, but its spiritual significance, discipline, and connection to Allah. For many of the young attendees, this format offered a refreshing and memorable approach to learning about one of Islam’s most important acts of worship.

Following the storytelling session, students were invited to participate in a hands-on craft activity designed to reinforce the key lessons from the story. With art supplies in hand, they engaged in a project that helped them express what they had learned in a creative and personal way. Teachers and facilitators guided the students as they worked, encouraging conversation and reflection about the role Salah plays in their daily lives.

The activity not only sparked artistic expression but also reinforced the day’s core message through a tactile and visual learning experience. Events like these, educators noted, are particularly effective in helping children internalize values and traditions in ways that are enjoyable and meaningful.

After completing their crafts, students gathered to enjoy snacks and refreshments, offering a moment of camaraderie and community bonding. This informal setting gave children the opportunity to relax, share their work, and strengthen friendships—an important part of Elhaam Academy’s holistic educational approach.

The Story Time and Craft series reflects Elhaam Academy’s broader mission: to nurture both the minds and hearts of its students by integrating faith-based teachings with engaging, developmentally appropriate educational methods. By combining storytelling, creative activities, and social interaction, the academy creates a well-rounded learning environment that fosters not only academic and spiritual growth, but also a strong sense of community and identity.

As this second event in the series drew to a close, the energy in the room made it clear that the experience had resonated deeply with the students. Moments of quiet reflection were balanced by laughter and shared excitement, a testament to the success of an event that blended learning with joy.

For the students of Elhaam Academy, events like these offer more than just a lesson—they build lasting memories rooted in faith, creativity, and connection.
